Sarah Wormell
Sarah was born in Kent and was one of the first musicians to receive a
scholarship from Kent Music School. She went on to study both Violin and Viola
under Ann Hooley and Keith Lovell at Trinity College of Music where she was
awarded several prizes both as a chamber musician and soloist and she was
privileged to lead several of the college orchestras as well as appearing as a
soloist with the String Ensemble.
Whilst at college Sarah started teaching for West Berkshire Music Service where
she continued to work for several years, gaining valuable teaching experience
in lots of different schools. She also taught in London at the Cardinal Wiseman
School where she started the violin teaching in the school and taught the
piano.
Having left college Sarah stayed in London for a few years teaching and playing
before moving to Cornwall where she started playing with orchestras in the West
Country including the Bournemouth Sinfonietta as well as teaching for the
Cornwall music service. Sarah was much in demand for orchestral concerts, shows
and as a chamber musician. A move to Devon followed and Sarah started playing
on cruise ships in various chamber groups. Sarah did this for over 8 years
during which time she moved to Surrey and married.
Sarah Now freelances both as an Orchestral and Chamber musician.
She is now happily married and lives with her husband and 2 cats (Socks and
Suki) just outside Guildford. As well as her music Sarah
has also been researching her
family history and is pleased to have re-united her mother with a long lost
cousin.
